The Sinking Spire of Oakhaven

Perched on the jagged perimeter of the Whispering Shelf, Oakhaven is a city carved from calcified bedrock and forgotten nautical iron. Below the gilded gaslight of the upper libraries lies the Sump—where illicit scribes transcribe forbidden histories before the black salt-rot erases the page.

"Stone does not forget the boots of those who built it, even as the tides rise to swallow the foundation."

— Folio IV, Fragment 12

Geographical Realism

Over 400 meticulously mapped leagues, complete with custom topography, tidal calendars, and deep-soil cartography.

Chapter I

The Midnight Archive

5 min read
Every closed folio carries the heartbeat of the hands that bound it.

Te rain in Booktown never arrived as a storm, but as an ancient habit of the atmosphere. By midnight, the tall iron-banded doors of the archival vault had cooled to the touch, their rivets damp with salt air from the southern estuary. Julian paused before the fifth aisle, raising his lamp against rows of vellum folios that seemed to inhale the quiet.

Here lay four centuries of unread testimonies, cataloged under numbers that no contemporary ledger acknowledged. He had been told that certain manuscripts could not be opened without consequence—that ink mixed with crushed lapis and gall retained a physical resonance long after its author had ceased to breathe.

His fingers found the spine of Volume Seven: calfskin softened by decades of tallow grease, bearing no title save for a blind-stamped crest of two crossed quills over an open lantern. When the clasp gave way, the sound in the gallery was like dry cedar snapping under winter frost.
